Weekly Recap | Embracing Mango Season, New Hiking Adventures, and Wellness Progress
Hello everyone ,
It's been a while since I last shared an update, but here's a quick recap of what's been happening in my world lately:
Enjoying Mangoes 🥭
I've been having a great time enjoying the delicious mangoes of the season. Sadly, it seems like the mango season is almost over, and it went by too quickly!
Exciting Hiking Adventure:
I tried something new and absolutely loved it - hiking! It's been an amazing experience that not only keeps me physically fit but also strengthens my mind. I shared my first hiking experience recently here in the blog. Despite feeling sore after a few hikes, meeting like-minded people on the trails has made it even more enjoyable.
Progress with Intermittent Fasting:
By combining intermittent fasting with my hiking routine, I've seen positive changes, especially in losing some belly fat. I shared more about my fasting journey in a recent YouTube video, so check it out and support my channel if you can!
Family and Planning:
With the academic term coming to an end, I'm thinking about fun activities to keep the kids entertained during the holidays. I'm also looking forward to a break from early morning school routines.
Health Challenges:
Dealing with a recent cold was tough, especially right before a hiking trip. It left me feeling tired and unwell, but I'm optimistic about the week ahead and excited to see what's in store.
I appreciate all your support and encouragement as I navigate through these experiences. Your positivity keeps me motivated to keep moving forward towards my goals. Remember to share your own stories and adventures with me - I'd love to hear about them!
Wishing you all a fantastic week filled with progress, happiness, and success. Let's continue to support each other as we strive for our dreams!
Stay healthy, stay active, and cherish every moment.
Thank you for being a part of my journey. Let's make the most of this new week together!
My first real hiking experience | Hiking Mount Yéyé
I've always loved hiking but never really got the opportunity to do it until last week when a friend suggested I join her hiking group to go up Mt Yéyé.
It felt exciting and scary at the same time as I had to make quick arrangements to make the hiking possible. Finding someone to stay with the kids, buying snacks and hiking shoes the day before were on the list of preparations to make the event possible and successful.
I remembered one time I registered with my classmates to hike Mt Eloumdem with our lecturer. Some of us paid for transportation by bus to the meeting point. On our way there the bus made a stop for people to buy snacks. Where we stopped were our other classmates who didn't take the bus with us. This made me think that we were already at the meeting point. So I got out of the bus and joined the others who later decided hike the mountain to get to the meeting point 😆. That's how I had my first experience with hiking. I don't know if we reached the summit as we were simply finding out way to the other side, I had no hiking shoes or even sport shoes on, infact I wasn't ready for that hiking experience at all just like the others looking at the way we were dressed. I don't know who came up with the idea of reaching the meeting point by passing through the mountain.
Anyway, I had my first real hiking experience a last Sunday and it made me feel great 👍🏾😃
Here are photos from the my hiking experience

The beginning was steep and hard. It got me thinking if I was going to make it to the top. |
At this point, I wished I was at home spending my Sunday like I normally did because I was already running out of breath and I couldn't keep up with the pace of others. |
It was clear that I needed to go at my pace. Thoughts of regret were full in my head at this point. To think that we only just started 😭. I was already sweating profusely. |
Concentration 😂 |
I got used to climbing and it got better eventually. |
Almost at the top 😺 |
Finally at the top. |
Officially a hiker 😉 |
Refreshment |
Catching up 😀 and resting before descending |
Found this giant cobweb on our way down. I couldn't even take a picture of all of it. |
Almost done and it was easier to descend though my knees were shaking and hurting. |
We came, we conquered ✌🏾 |
Ok at this point I said this isn't different from 2:0 (deux zero) |
Yum 😋 I enjoyed my meal ( pepper soup) |
Caught making a selfie 😁 🤳🏾 |
It was a great experience and I want to do this again. The team is very friendly and supportive so I had a great time. I think it's a great exercise that helps to deal with negative emotions because I felt uncomfortable and feelings of frustration developed sometimes because it was hard but they cleared up because I had to keep going. I had to think of achieving the objective which is getting to the summit and so I had to learn to put my frustrations aside and get it done. It was like having a hard conversation with myself and deciding to do the right thing though it's hard.
It was fulfilling at the end and I'm super proud of myself for doing this.
On that note, thank you guys for reading, I hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you on the next one. 😘
I'm back to short hair| Why I did & If I'm enjoying it
Hi guys,
It's been a few weeks since I cut my hair (by myself 😂).
The main reason I did it was because I was tired of maintaining my long hair. I wanted something easy to manage and cheaper too. The hairstyles I desired to do on my long hair were kind of costly and I wasn't ready to spend that much. Also I don't seem to have the time to actually go get the hair done.
Other reasons why I cut my hair was because I look younger in low cut. I have put on some weight these past years which makes me look older.
In my last weekly recap post, I mentioned that I bought some products for my short hair. I had braids on my hair and I simply cut each braided hair after undoing it. This made my hair unevenly cut. I thought the relaxer was going to fix the problem but it didn't really help.
I colored my hair brown the first time (I actually bought an oxblood color but it turned out brown 😂, I don't know why) and later red ( I changed the brand of hair color).
Before coloring my hair the second time I went to a barber to cut my hair to the same level. Then I came back and used the relaxer I bought (which didn't relax my hair well - I really wish I took dark and lovely), before coloring it red.
It was very red when I just did it but now it's not as red as before because the color washes off when I shampoo my hair.
I love my short red hair and it's serving it's purpose. I wake up in the morning without worrying about combing my hair or putting it in a bun and I go to bed without worrying about it entangling the next day 😊.
I may not leave it as short as this all the time and I intend to explore various short hair styles.
Kojie San | Why I bought it & How I'm using this popular soap
If you've been watching skincare content on tiktok recently, you might have come across content about Kojie San. I mean, there are so many videos about the soap Kojie San that I couldn't help but get curious about it.
My curiosity made me discover that it's an exfoliating acide that works against hyperpigmentation. It solves hyperpigmentation without bleaching the skin. Meaning it gets rid of dark spots and makes the skin brighter therefore revealing an even skin tone. This sparked my interest because I have dark spots on my skin and I've been looking for a solution which will not bleach my skin.
From the videos I watched, I discovered that Kojie San has a particular way of using it. Currently I'm using it 5 days a week on my body and 3 times a week on my face. I'm also doing my best to follow the recommendation of avoiding the sun as well as the rule of using it in the night or when the sun is down.
I believe that the soap Kojie San I bought is original because it has all the characteristics of the original as described by skincare dealers on tiktok.
I have used the soap Kojie San for three weeks now and though I've noticed changes, I can't give a proper review right now. I want to give it time to work and really observe the changes.
I bought it online from a skincare vendor I saw in tiktok. Of course I checked her profile and found elements that made me trust her enough to buy from her. Please always check your online vendor and make sure that you can see elements that prove they are genuine.
I bought the pack of three and each soap in the pack is 100g.
Have you heard about Kojie San soap or it's other products? Are you using it? Please share your thoughts and experience.
Glow Up Haul: Unveiling My Latest Beauty Products
Hi guys, hope you are doing well.
You may already know that I cut my hair few weeks ago. After I made the decision, I went to the supermarket to buy the products I needed to style my hair after cutting it. I also wanted a product for my face - a cleanser or something like that, I wasn't sure at the time. There was an unplanned purchase I'm happy I took.
Here are the beauty products I got recently for my glow up
For my hair, I took;
A hair relaxer which I regret taking. I wanted my usual Dark and Lovely but I had second thoughts because I wanted curly relaxed short hair. So I wanted a relaxer that will give me the curly effect. I didn't find any relaxer on the counter that clearly stated that so I wanted to take Dark and Lovely. A marketing hostess came to me to sell soap she was marketing (which I bought) and I asked if there was any relaxer that gives curls. She told me to take the one I took and I wasn't satisfied with the results after using it. I wish I took Dark and Lovely.
I also took hair color and the Eco style professional styling gel - curl and wave. I still have the Olive Eco style gel but I got the curl and wave because I wanted curly relaxed short hair. But that move was useless because the relaxer didn't make my hair curly after I relaxed it.
For my face and body I got;
Evoluderm anti imperfection cleanser, Byphase masque a l'argile, Net skin soap(which the hostess sold to me). I got the mask because they mentioned on it that it works for anti-aging and I have a few wrinkles to smoothen out on my face.
I also got a bathing soap for the kids and a body lotion as well.
My unplanned purchases were the face mask and the net skin bathing soap.
That's it for my beauty products haul.
Thanks for reading and please share your thoughts in the comments if you have any.
Easter Break Recap: Catching Up on Past Weeks' Highlights
Hello guys, hope you are doing well.
Normally, I share a weekly recap, but life got hectic recently, and I missed out on updating for the last three weeks. Let's dive into the highlights of the past weeks, going through each week one by one.
Three Weeks Ago:
At the beginning of the Easter break three weeks ago, I was overjoyed that it had finally arrived. I was more excited about the break than the kids! I relished my lazy mornings in bed and the chance to catch up on some much-needed beauty sleep. I made some tasty beans and ripe plantains that the kids absolutely loved. I also made some foleré or bisap which is a natural drink made from hibiscus flower. I sweetened it naturally and feel so proud of myself because it came out nice.
This week, I also pondered new ideas for my content creation. I'm contemplating creating more sit-down YouTube videos discussing personal development. However, my wavering thoughts left me feeling overwhelmed and doubting myself.
This mood lingered into the following week, and I found myself lacking the motivation to create new content. Despite this, I cherished my peaceful mornings and rejuvenating beauty sleep. Balancing meal preparation wasn't easy as the kids were home all day, constantly asking for snacks and meals.
I discovered it was mango season this week and I was so excited. It's still expensive though and I bought a few for 500frs to taste. They were yummy and I totally enjoyed them though the enjoyment was shortlived because they were few. I must advise that you use a knife to peel and cut your mangoes before eating because the first mangoes are sometimes bad or infested with insects.
The major highlight of the second week of Easter break was me cutting my hair. I've been wanting to do it for a while now and I thought this was the right time. I will give details of how it went in another post. The following week I did another drastic thing to my hair.
Last Week:
As we entered this current week, it dawned on me that school would be starting soon, with this being the final week before the third term begins. The positive aspect? The term ahead is short, fueling my motivation.
I set resolutions regarding my content creation approach, aiming to offer you all even better content. While the changes might not be immediately noticeable, I'm tweaking things slightly to find the simplest way to deliver top-notch content. Eagerly anticipating the coming week, I look forward with enthusiasm.
And the drastic thing I did to my hair was to color it red. Honestly I wasn't expecting it to be this red but I like it and have received positive comments about it so yes! I feel good about this change and in a more detailed post I'll share with you guys why I decided to cut my hair.
The Easter break has replenished my energy, and I'm ready to tackle what lies ahead, so let's do this!
How was your Easter break? Please share with us in the comments.
