Happy birthday to me 🥳
It's international women's day 2024
Happy international women's day ladies.
While scrolling through Instagram today, I read a caption which said our diversity is our strength and our inclusion is our power. This message has a powerful meaning.
As we think of ways to improve our rights as women let's know that we are beautiful and unique no matter the shape or size we come in. We are also each other's support and strength when we come together.
I personally didn't feel like wearing the women's day fabric on this day because I'm not so in a festive mode. I've heard a lot of cases of domestic violence on women recently and I feel so bad that it's not really being addressed so that real solutions will be found. The only thing we can do is to advise and sensitize the victims in particular to leave when they see the signs. But we need structures that can rescue, receive and follow up these women when they leave.
That's why you should take time to meditate today about what you can do to improve the lives of other women this year as you celebrate your amazing self because your resilience, strength and intelligence deserves to be celebrated.
Happy women's day my dear 💐🥂🍾
What's in my Impact Her goodie bag? Open it with me
About a month ago I spoke about Acquiring and retaining customers online using content creation at the ImpactHER international women's day event which took place in Yaoundé Cameroon.
I remember after the event I tasted 'jus de baobab' for the first time made by one of the women attending and it was delicious.
It was a great pleasure to share my knowledge with the amazing women I met there. After the event I got a goodie bag which I'm sharing a view of the content with you today.
I felt like taking out the content of the bag today because my current notebook is finished and there's a new one in the bag which I need to start using. This motivated me to make use of the rest of the items which I present to you below.
In the bag was a notebook, a pen and an African map wood artwork which I think is great for decorating my home ( i don't have where to put it for now but I will find an appropriate place for it).
I also received gifts from some of the women I spoke to. I got a tumeric soap bar and a delicious packet of mixed nuts which I am munching on right now as I write this post. It's a mixture of cashew, tigger, coconut and another nut which I don't know the name but it's sweet.
I remember after the event I tasted 'jus de baobab' for the first time made by one of the women attending and it was delicious.
I'm happy to put my new notebook and pen to use. I'll be trying out the tumeric soap bar this weekend and looking forward to good results as tumeric is a good ingredient for the skin.
That's what is in my goodie bag from Impact Her.
Wish you guys a happy weekend 😊.
Event | Guest speaking at the ImpactHER International Women's Day Celebration 2023 in Yaounde
Hi everyone, hope you are doing well.
Like the title says I was invited to speak at the event organised by ImpactHER in Yaounde on the 11th of March 2023.
First of all the event took place the day after my birthday! Do I need to tell you that I spent my birthday preparing for this event and stressing out because it was my first public speaking engagement? LOL!
To get myself ready I prepared my presentation and did my hair. I even did my nails - a decision I made while at the saloon. My hairdresser got me when she said she'll do something simple and nice within my budget just to make my nails look nice. After I imagined holding the microphone with rusty nails I fell for it. Lol.
I was so nervous about speaking so to build my confidence I made notes for and practised my presentation, I tried stress relieving techniques like calming deep breaths and going jogging that morning, accepting the worse thing that could happen during the presentation, and accepting and letting the encouragement from my loved ones sink in.
I finally decided on what to wear on the morning of the event. I won't lie that I have so many clothes in my wardrobe but nothing to wear. I haven't worn most of my clothes in more than four years because of pregnancy and my postpartum body so dressing up is a bit of a challenge for me. But is settled for this dress tailored for a wedding I attended last year.
I got to the event on time but it took me some time to find the venue. Thankfully I didn't wear my heels from home because my feet would have hurt. The ladies attending are entrepreneurs and some of them showcased their products which were interesting to see.
I was the first speaker of the day and I delivered my talk quite well. I didn't read from my notes as planned and that felt like a big win for me.
I enjoyed speaking at this event because I love empowering women. Women are builders of a lot of businesses today and it is vital to give them the tools to excel. Social media being one of the most popular forms of technology to this day is a great tool for them. That's why this year's theme for the International Women's day feels right. "DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality"
In relation to this, ImpactHER organised this event to celebrate women with the theme; "Beyond the norm: Promoting innovation as a female entrepreneur" to help these women do better in their businesses.
I also learnt a lot from the stories shared by these women about their journeys and I look forward to more opportunities like this.

Happy new year 2023 🎉
I feel happy with the way this year started for me. I took time in solitude to prepare for the new year and the crossover really felt refreshing because I was less confused about how to go about my projects.
I'm really grateful for the growth and lessons from last year. I'm happy that I'm facing this year more intentionally.
Above all, I'm grateful to God almighty for his ceaseless blessings upon my life ❤️.
We are doing better this year and I'm carrying you along my inspiring journey.
Happy new year 🎉
Christmas traditions in Cameroon
In Cameroon, there are a number of things that are common to see and we can call them traditions. Here they are:
- Christmas rice and chicken
Rice and chicken is a typical meal on Christmas day in Cameroon. Since it's considered a celebration for kids rice is almost always present and chicken is cooked on special occasions so these two items are often on the menu.
- Christmas clothes
I mentioned it's considered a day for kids so the effort is put into getting new clothes, shoes and toys for the kids.
- Christmas celebration in the day is for kids and the night is for adults
Adults go out mainly in the evening or at night to have fun.
- Markets on Christmas Eve are always so crowded
I didn't understand why until I started shopping on Christmas eve or on Christmas day (morning). The markets are usually so crowded as everyone is trying to buy something at the last minute in preparation for Christmas. Salaries are often paid a few days before Christmas so it helps to crowd the market.
- Kids are excited to show their friends their new clothes and toys when they visit
It's common to see kids show off their new toys and clothes when they meet their friends.
- The menu for the day tastes special and most times there is a variety of meals to choose from
Christmas meals are cooked with extra care and attention to make them so tasty.
Do you know any other traditions for Christmas in Cameroon you want to add?
Wishing a merry Christmas to you and your family.
What are the traditions in your area during Christmas?
What type of Christmas are you looking forward to?
Woke up this morning to seeing the kids and their father putting up the Christmas tree and my day was made instantly 😌. It now feels like it is officially Christmas in our home.
Their smiles especially the excitement of the kids was contagious ☺️.
I had thought about when to put up the tree but hadn't decided yet. I mentioned it last night and this morning the tree was being set up when I woke up. I loved it.
This year I look forward to having a cool and calm Christmas with not many people around, a special meal, wine and lots of rest because this year has been such a rollercoaster.
And I must say after putting up the tree I'm more excited for Christmas.
What type of Christmas are you looking forward to having? A calm Christmas or a more active one with many loved ones around and group outings?
Wishing you a merry Christmas in advance ❤️.
Saving the environment creatively at the Greenpeace #makesomethng2022 event
This is officially my first blog post for November, and I'm happy it's a good start. Hope you guys are doing well.
I was part of the Greenpeace Cameroon Make Something Week event on the 25th of November 2022 at the University of Yaounde 2 Soa.
The event was fun and I must say it made the child in every one of us who attended resurface. I loved how everyone was playfully creative.
For this event, my outfit for the day was my volunteer t-shirt, black jeans, sneakers and a matching tote bag. It was essential to be in a comfortable outfit because my job as a social media manager requires me to be on my feet as I go around taking pictures and videos.

The aim of the "makesmthng2022 is to teach people that they can recycle waste by being creative. We transformed plastic and glass bottles into decorative items. I even made earrings from a plastic bottle and some paint.

Don't mind how rough it looks, that's where the art is. 😉 |
Here is the earring I told you I made from plastic bottle and paint. |

I got home exhausted but happy because it was a very educative event and it was highly appreciated by the students who joined us.
