Weekend Photo Journal | A Good Breakfast, A Long Walk & Homemade Stew | Simple Moments I Enjoyed

Hi Radiants,

This weekend was filled with simple moments that I enjoyed and wanted to remember, so I thought I'd share them in a little photo journal.

A Breakfast I Really Enjoyed

Friday morning started with one of those breakfasts that make you pause and appreciate the moment.

I had bread topped with avocado and a bowl of yoghurt with oats and banana. Nothing fancy, but it felt nourishing and satisfying. It's the kind of breakfast that makes me feel like I'm taking care of myself.

Honestly, I should make breakfasts like this more often.

A Long Saturday Morning Walk

On Saturday morning, I went for a long walk.

Earlier in the week, I had gone for a shorter walk, but this time I wanted to walk farther. Lately, I've been thinking about making morning walks part of my routine. Not just for exercise, but also because I enjoy being outside and having time to think.

One thing I noticed during my walk was that most of the people exercising were older adults. I only saw one younger-looking woman for a while. She had earphones on and looked very focused. Apart from her and a few young men I passed, almost everyone else seemed to be older.

Another thing I noticed is that people who are out walking always seem to look at each other. I don't know why. It's not necessarily a greeting, and it's not rude either. It's just something I've observed. Maybe we're all curious about who else is out there walking at the same time.

The evening before, it had rained, so there were muddy patches along the way. Since I was wearing white shoes, I spent part of the walk carefully choosing where to step. I managed to avoid most of the mud and only ended up with a few small stains.

This walk also reminded me of a period in my life when walking became something much more than exercise.

When I had decided to leave my toxic relationship, I used to go on long walks quite often. I would walk through neighborhoods with beautiful houses, stop at the top of a hill, admire the view, and think about the future I wanted for myself and my children.

Those walks gave me space to think, dream, and process everything that was happening in my life at the time.

As I walked on Saturday, I realised how much I had missed that feeling.

Later that day, I made a no-tomato meat stew that we ate with baton de manioc.

The stew is mostly made with onions, green onions (or leeks), and a few other ingredients that give it flavour. It's one of those recipes I started making when tomatoes became ridiculously expensive, and it has remained a favourite.

The best part is that it goes well with almost anything—rice, plantains, spaghetti, baton de manioc, and more.

If you'd like to try it, I've shared the recipe on the blog before:

That's It for My Weekend Highlights

Nothing extraordinary happened this weekend, but sometimes the simple moments are the ones worth remembering.

A good breakfast. A long walk. A meal shared with family.

Those were my highlights.

How was your weekend?
