The African society has its own realities linked to its culture. This makes succeeding as an ambitious African woman living in Africa really different from other environments.

Most African cultures require women to stay at home and only be housewives while the man is the breadwinner. This makes it difficult for women or girls who want to work and have a career.

In cultures where they are allowed to work, they are judged and at times discouraged when they are too ambitious. This is usually because people fear that over-ambitious women scare men away and may not end up married. Marriage still has a very important social status in African countries and cultures and most women are judged or respected by their marital status.

That is why for an ambitious African woman to succeed, her midset needs to be brave enough to weather the storm.

What are your dreams dear African woman?

Can I be honest?

I wrote this post because I feel that we live in a society where people don't have dreams. I'm talking about African society. African women most especially don't dream as much. It is often said that what exists in the physical once existed in the mind. Dreams are important to build ourselves and our society. It is important to have dreams because we have a purpose for being on earth.

So what are your dreams? Do you have any? I dream of being a successful blogger. And that is just one of my dreams. It's not too late to have dreams. You can start now.

What do want to be or achieve? How do you want to achieve it and when? These are guide questions.

Though it's understandable, it feels sad that our struggles in life have made us forget to work for our dreams and purpose to be fulfiled.

Fellow African women, it's time to dream and dream big. The time to play small and stay modest about the things we want has passed.

I hope you see this as a wake-up call. And if you already have dreams, you are doing well. May you work hard enough to fulfil and achieve them.

Homemade herbal drink with Kenkiliba for body cleansing | Recipe Cameroon

For this herbal tea I use the following ingredients;

Homemade Kenkiliba herbal drink for body cleansing | Recipe Cameroon

- Kenkeliba fruit

- Pineapple peel and leaves

- Ginger

- Pawpaw seeds

- Anti-malaria tree bark (I sometimes add this to prevent malaria)

- Lime or Lemon

How to make the herbal tea

- Wash all the ingredients properly.

- Pour the kenkiliba juice or slices into the pot. You can also use the seeds by pounding them before adding them to the pot.

- Pound the pineapple peel, pineapple leaves, ginger, pawpaw seeds, the anti-malaria tree back, lemon or lime after squeezing out the juice.

- Pound everything together to get a coarse mixture. The finer the particles the better chances you have to get more juice from the herbs.

- Put in the pot after pounding it well, add water and boil for about 30 minutes.

You can now sieve it and drink. You can add some honey, lime/and lemon juice if you want.

This herbal tea is great for cleansing the body, it helps with weight loss and body pains, it gives energy and helps in treating stomach problems like bloating, constipation, typhoid etc.

How to make raw efficient kenkiliba juice

This juice can be added to other herbs to make herbal tea. It can also be boiled and consumed alone. It depends on what you are using it for. Extracting the juice in this manner really makes it easy to use.

How to make strong and efficient kenkiliba juice

Cut the Kenkeliba into small or medium pieces. Extract the seeds. You can either soak the seeds and the flesh together or separate them.

If you soak the seeds apart, you will need to leave them to soak for longer to get the bitter juice.

Remember that you can cook the kenkiliba fruit directly after cutting when making your herbal tea. But extracting the juice helps you to preserve it longer while getting the juice directly.

How to make raw efficient kenkiliba juice

It is best to cut the fruit as small as you can but it's hard to slice so make sure your knife is sharp enough.

Take out the seeds if you want to separate them.

Put the seeds in a bottle and add some water. Allow it in the bottle of water for some days. Over time the seeds will become soft and dissolve. You can retrieve the juice every time and replace the water as long as the seeds are still hard.

Cut the fruit put it in a container and add water. Allow it to soak for a few hours or days to get the raw juice. This juice can be cooked alongside other herbs to make a strong herbal tea.

Consume this juice in moderation.

It is a good remedy to treat stomach problems and illnesses like typhoid fever. It also helps to lose weight - especially the juice of the seeds.

To succeed, you have to take the risk to work and invest in a career or job no matter how small. It may fail or succeed that's why it's a risk.

Build your knowledge and skill in what you want to do or practice. Get informed and train yourself. You can use the internet (read blogs and watch videos) to learn.

Find people to help you and share their experiences with you for you to learn. Join people or groups who share the same vision as you. Create relationships with them and grow your knowledge.

I hope these tips help you become successful. Work hard, stay focused and be determined to succeed.

Ambitious African Women | What society really thinks about you

There's a new generation of African women who are ambitious but those who are not used to this call them aggressive, proud and not wife material.

Some are even seen as wayward or as prost*tutes who sleep their way to the top or to make money.

Not everyone makes money or succeeds legitimately, but there are ambitious women who work hard and it hurts when they are considered prost*tutes. Their hard work and dedication are ridiculed. Their achievements are stripped of their value. So sad.

Could this be because we live in a society where Africans don't dream no more about who they want to be? Or because we have a society where people are used to taking advantage of women when they are in need?

Our African society is not yet ready for ambitious women and that's something that ambitious African women should take note of.

They need to resist the pressure from their friends, family and random strangers who will judge them or discourage them from pursuing their dreams.

Don't be afraid to fail

One of my greatest fears is failure.

When you fail it feels scary. You don't know which way to go because you focused your energy and resources on a particular path. But you didn't get to the destination you imagined.

Fear of failure is not a feeling you overcome at once. It's gradual. Overcoming this fear requires you to remind yourself of a few things:

- failing makes you wiser

- failing makes you stronger

- failing makes better because you improve

- failing makes your win sweeter

- failure gives you a lesson to share with others.

Hope you remember these things when you fail at something. Failing is part of life. It helps us grow and do things better. It makes your success sweeter.

Like I said, I also fear failing but I'm working to overcome it so this post is also a note to self. 😉
