Do you watch 'Madame...Monsieur' ? - Let's talk about Passy (Muriel Blanche)
Madame...Monsieur is a series I've been watching for a few weeks now on A+ (Canal +).
I find it interesting not only as a good distraction but also as a series filled with direct and indirect life lessons.
Recently there was talk online about the role of Muriel Blanche which caught my attention. She plays the role of Passy who is not only the daughter of the wealthy Mbarga but also an entrepreneur and great support to those who need help around her - the true image of an empowered woman financially and mentally.
Passy on Facebook is referred to as 'Super Passy' because she's like the superwoman of the film. She gives moral and financial assistance to her family and friends. Passy is also kind, forgives easily, friendly and most of all she is reliable.
Her friends and family can count on her because she is empowered.
When a woman is empowered she is more reliable. She becomes a pillar with so much power to support others.
As African women, we need to rebrand our image. The image of always being in need of financial or moral assistance and doing nothing about being independent. We need more women like Passy who are strong enough financially and mentally to support others. Our society needs more of such women who can empower other women and help society to move forward.
You can be a Passy in your family or circle of friends. Don't only be the person who keeps on wishing she could help. But also be the woman who can help.
Financial empowerment gives you the ability to be less dependent. It gives you the possibility to make your own decisions and be yourself even more.
Passy's father is rich but she didn't only rely on his wealth. She makes her own money and that makes her less dependent on her family.
African women, let's strive for more in life. Let's seek to be empowered even more. You can't complain that your rights are not being respected by the same people who you go to for all your needs. He who provides for your every need will want to control you.
I hope you find the Passy in you and bring her out through your courage, determination and hard work.
And yes, hard work pays. You can work hard and earn your independence.
