This morning, I stepped out just to buy bread for breakfast. Honestly, I can’t even remember what I originally planned to eat it with—I think it was eggs. But you know how it goes: once you get to the market, plans change.
I ended up having a little mini breakfast haul. Alongside the bread, I bought:
Bread
Plums (safou)—which I found in good quantity.
Pear (avocado)—I couldn’t resist when the lady told me they were just 100 frs and 50 frs each! I bought five, and she even gave me a dash (a free one). That completely made my morning—there’s just something about finding cheap, good pears that feels like a small win.
Bâton de manioc—not for breakfast, but I knew it would come in handy later in the day with something else.
For that morning’s breakfast, I ended up making a simple but satisfying plate of bread with pear salad and plums on the side. The pears and plums became my source of “protein” to go with the bread for the next few days, and I loved that balance of sweetness and creaminess.
Sometimes the most unexpected hauls give the best meals. 🥑🍞💜
