Hi guys, How are you doing? Hope good.
Lately, I’ve been taking self-care a little more seriously, especially when it comes to my hair. Nothing too fancy, just consistency. I’ve been keeping it clean and neat, even with simple styles. At first, I was doing everything myself: washing, plaiting, and managing the whole process. However, I’ve recently started going to the salon to get it done. It’s been such a relief. I still wash my hair at home most of the time, which helps me save money and feel hands-on with my care routine.
My hair is actually doing well — soft, healthy, and my front hair is growing again (finally!). I’ve been enjoying this little “growing my hair again” era. Hopefully, the feeling lasts because knowing myself, I might just see someone with short hair tomorrow and get the sudden urge to chop it all off again.
It’s also election month here in Cameroon. Before Election Day, I decided to do a little food stock-up just in case. The day I chose to go to the market, of course, the rain decided to pour nonstop. I was literally wet for most of the day, taking the kids to school in the rain, picking them up in the rain, and running errands in between. The market was a muddy mess, and at one point, I had to hide under a shed waiting for the rain to slow down before I could finish shopping. Still, I got everything done, and I was genuinely proud (and grateful) that I didn’t let the rain ruin my plans.
I’ve been giving in to some food cravings lately, especially turning-coco. It's a Cameroonian meal and our way of making porridge cocoyams. I’ve been craving it for so long, and even though the price of cocoyam has gone up like crazy, I eventually gave in and made some. It was totally worth the effort. I also made chicken cooked in a sauce without tomatoes (because sometimes I just want something different), and the kids and I loved it.
As the elections have come and gone, we’re all just waiting for the results and hoping for the best. In the meantime, I’m just taking things slow, focusing on what I can control—my peace, my home, and my hair that’s finally growing again.
