When kids are at home most of the time, one of the things you worry about is their safety. Staying at home is sweet but there are a few accidents that we need to watch out for.
To celebrate safety month I am sharing with you safety tips for your kids this holiday.
June Is Safety Month | How To Keep Your Kids Safe At Home This Long Holiday/ Break
- Teach them not to open the door to a stranger, not to talk to strangers and not to alert others when strangers approach them, touch them or do something they don't like to them.
Sometimes while at home people with bad intentions may come and try to have access to your kids especially if they are home by themselves or if you lose sight of them for a minute. This will help to avoid kidnapping, rape or molestation on your kids.
- Also teach them to report to you if a family member touches them or does something to them that they don't like.
At times the danger we fear is living with us at home. Make your kids understand it's not right to be touched in a certain way by anyone. Tell them to report to you if it happens.
- Always lock your gas bottle after use to prevent fire incidents.
Make sure the kitchen door is closed if it has one, and prevent them from going to the kitchen without your knowledge.
- Keep harmful or sharp objects from their reach.
Knives and other cutlery can be dangerous for them to play with. Weapons kept at home should be well hidden too.
- Watch them while they sleep from time to time
- Supervise their playtime.
Don't just leave them to themselves. Make sure they are playing the right games and not fighting each other or doing something bad.
It's not an easy task but it is necessary.
