Embracing the Breeze of Childhood: Rediscovering Presence and Imagination
Hi guys, hope you are doing well. I know it's been a few days I haven't posted. I'm sorry guys I've been in my overthinking era and I'm getting out of it. In the meantime let me share with you this experience.
It was raining this evening and there was no electricity. While I sat in the dark browsing my phone, I feel the breeze from outside with a familiar smell. It's been such a long time I got that smell and it reminded me of when I was very young, maybe still in primary school and I will stand by the window when it rained looking at the drops of water flowing as I listened to the sound it made.
The smell that reminded me of that moment is the fresh smell of heavy rainfall. I used to love the breeze that carries that smell of rain 🌧️ because it was refreshing to inhale.
And what stroke me the most about that moment years ago when I was a kid is that I would think only of the rain and sound it was making. I would let myself enjoy the moment and even wander off dreaming about things that made me happy.
But now I can't enjoy the moment not to talk of dreaming like I used to because of adulthood. My head is full of responsibilities and tasks I have to do all the time. When it's raining I'm already thinking and praying that they should not cut electricity like they did today because I have things to do and the blackout will slow me down.
Life o. These are the things that make you realize that you are growing old indeed. 😆😆
I thought of this and I wanted to share with you guys because eh. I need to get back to who I used to be when I was a kid. I miss that part of being a child. The ability to be present in moments and dream of anything your imagination can make for you. I think I need to practice it more. What do you think? Did you have such moments as a child? Please share so that we can relive the memories 😊

More skincare products I use and what I use them for
In the post where I shared my beauty journey from pregnancy till present, I mentioned the main products I used to improve my skin.
In this post I'm sharing more skincare products I use and what I use them for.
These products are sea salt, liquid detol, peau de lune lotion and calliderm body scrub.
This calliderm body scrub has very fine particles and it scrubs the skin deeper.
I use the liquid detol in my bathing water. It helps to disinfect the water and my skin during bath time.
The peau de lune lotion I must confess I have not used it in a while because I became lazy and couldn't follow up my skincare routine to the letter. This one I got cleanses and brightens gently compared to the one that's darker in color.
And then we have the body massage sea salt which smells heavenly ❤️. I love it because it is a bit soapy so it washes the skin as well. I discovered this product one time I went to do my nails and it was used to wash my hands after my nails were done. I didn't hesitate to buy it that day. I use it a few times a week.
Next is this Pretty Be papaya body wash scrub which exfoliates and brightens the skin. I must confess I haven't used it in a while because I got another scrub from Nemalia cosmetics and also I've just been busy lately that when I want to take a bath im too tired to scrub or do my skincare as usual. But this is a good body scrub. It washes out dead cells and takes time to deep cleanse. I chose the papaya because I have used a sea salt with papaya in the past and it was great with cleansing my skin.
I haven't really created a beauty routine that works for me so lately I've been on and off with using most of my products. Hopefully I can make one soon and follow it religiously.
Thanks guys and I hope you enjoyed this post. I'll see you in my next one.

Shaping Aspirations: Parents vs. Celebrities as Role Models
In today's digital age, the influence of celebrities and popular figures on the aspirations and ambitions of young people cannot be overlooked. As children grow up in a world saturated with social media, they are bombarded with images and stories of larger-than-life personalities who seemingly have it all - fame, fortune, and influence. It is not uncommon for children to idolize these individuals and aspire to emulate their lifestyles, careers, and success.
However, amidst the allure of celebrity culture, it's essential to recognize the invaluable influence of parents as role models. Parents often serve as the first and most significant influencers in a child's life. They are the ones who work tirelessly to provide, nurture, and instill values and principles. Yet, in the pursuit of their own identity and aspirations, children may look beyond their parents for inspiration.
It's a complex dynamic when a child chooses a celebrity or popular figure as a role model over their parents. This shift can stem from a desire to break free from traditional roles, explore new possibilities, or simply find someone who encapsulates the vision of success they aspire to achieve. Instead of seeing their parents' hard work and dedication as the epitome of success, they may be drawn to the glitz and glamour of a celebrity lifestyle.
While it's natural for young individuals to seek inspiration outside of their immediate family circle, it's crucial to facilitate healthy conversations and reflections on the contributions and sacrifices of their parents. Understanding the journey and experiences of their parents can provide a grounded perspective on the realities of hard work, resilience, and perseverance. Parents can share their own stories of overcoming challenges, pursuing their dreams, and finding fulfillment in their endeavors, thus becoming tangible role models for their children.
Furthermore, it's important to acknowledge that aspiring to be like a celebrity or influencer can have its merits. These figures often use their platforms for philanthropy, activism, and positive change, offering valuable lessons in advocacy and compassion. However, striking a balance between appreciating these icons and recognizing the steadfast support and guidance of parents is essential for holistic personal growth.
Ultimately, whether a child looks up to their parents or to celebrities, fostering open communication and understanding within the family unit is key. Embracing diverse role models while cherishing the invaluable influence of parental figures can empower young individuals to sculpt their aspirations with a blend of admiration for external figures and appreciation for the unwavering dedication of their parents.
Reflecting on a productive week | Filled with creativity & celebration
Hi everyone. Hope you are doing well. This past week was a whirlwind of productivity and fun for me.
I spent the majority of my time planning and creating content for my two other blogs, Ngumabi's Glam and Kaolosphere. It was so fulfilling to see my ideas come to life and to work on something that I am truly passionate about. The process of brainstorming and creating content was both challenging and rewarding, and it left me feeling motivated and inspired for the weeks to come.
I developed an appetite for chocolate and wine I didn't hold myself back. I spent some evenings sipping wine and eating chocolate as I wondered how it will affect my weight loss journey. But I enjoyed it without worrying too much. I have been cautious with eating too much lately and I've seen results though I have not exercised for weeks now.
The weather last week was scorching hot, so the little bit of rain that we did get was a welcomed relief. It helped cool the heat and made the days a little more bearable. Despite the busy week and the hot weather, I managed to attend a meeting at Mboa Hub earlier in the week. Mboa Hub is a center that works to motivate and guide youths in taking action against climate change. It is empowering to be a part of such an important initiative and to see the impact that this organization is having on the community.
To cap off the week, I attended the one year anniversary celebration at Mboa Hub this past Sunday. The event was filled with music, food, and fun activities. Although I arrived late due to some errands I needed to run, I still had a blast celebrating with the amazing team at Mboa Hub. I was tired by the end of the day but it was well worth it to be surrounded by such positive energy and like-minded individuals.
Overall, last week was a week filled with productivity, creativity, and celebration. I am grateful for the opportunities that came my way and I am excited to see what the future holds. Here's to more planning, creating, and celebrating in the weeks to come!
Ladies, does food keep a man from cheating?
For a while now a Nigerian lady has been trending on X (former Twitter) because she tweeted that she started waking up at about 4:30 am to cook lunch for her husband who told her that his female colleague who has been sharing her lunch with him started bringing a second spoon for them to eat together.
I cringed after reading this story because she feels responsible for her husband's decision to expose himself to temptation and takes to cooking in order to not loose him.
A few questions also came to my mind. Did her husband share the same spoon with his colleague before she started bringing a second spoon? How did they even get to the point of sharing food daily ? Why didn't he tell her earlier, I mean when he started eating with her? And where did he get the courage to tell his wife about it considering that he should have told her way before his colleague started bringing an extra spoon for him?
If food is a means by which your husband can be 'collected' then your husband should not expose himself to that temptation as well. I also think that it's manipulative to tell your spouse or partner what someone else is doing for you which they could do in that manner. It can make them feel less confident or insecure.
Cooking for one's husband is a good thing and it doesn't matter the time of the day you choose to do it. But the reason why the cooking is being done is important. Waking up at 4 am to cook because you are afraid that they will use food and 'collect' your husband in my opinion is an extra burden which is unnecessary. We work to keep a relationship alive every day and both parties have to do their own part. One person should not take the responsibility of keeping the other like women do with men.
To me the husband had the choice to decline the colleague's offer to share her food and kindly ask his wife to make him food so that he can go to work with. I know some men will ask 'what if the wife refuses if she's asked to make the food? ' but that's a conversation for another day.
What are your thoughts about this issue? Please share in the comments.
Banane Malaxé Recipe
Banane malaxé is a meal from the West region of Cameroon which is now eaten by many other regions and tribes in the country. It's a one pot meal which is very nourishing and easy to cook.
Here is my recipe for a very tasty pot of Banane Malaxé.
Ingredients
Unripe banana
Groundnuts
Ginger
Onion and or leeks
Garlic
Seasoning
Palm oil
Smoked fish or meat
Preparing ingredients
Peel the bananas, ginger, garlic, onion and leeks. Wash the bananas and set aside. Wash the rest of the ingredients and grind the ginger and garlic while you slice the onion and leeks. Grind the dry groundnuts. You don't need to fry them. Remove the bones from the fish and shred into pieces.
Heat the palm oil and put in the bananas first then add the groundnuts, the fish and part of the ground and sliced ingredients on top of the bananas.
Cover the pot and leave it to cook for about 15 minutes on low heat. Do not stir it.
