Today we need to talk about skills African women need to strive for and thrive in this 21st century. 

We are 21st-century women whether you like it or not and this century has its characteristics which are worth adapting too. 

Technology, modernization, globalization, hardship and change are the characteristics of this century and if you intend to make it or be successful then you have to acquire the appropriate skills of life to do so.

This skill needs to go beyond finding old schoolmates and sharing our best photos. It also has to include getting information, learning professional skills, doing research and networking with people who can help us succeed in our projects. 

Not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur but with the rate of unemployment, most Africans are forced to start a business of their own. 

African Women are not left out of this. The world and time we live in require us to turn to entrepreneurship.  That's why it is important to learn the skill of entrepreneurship my dear ladies. 

Whether it is marketing online or offline you need to have the skills to enable you to market your products or profession in a way that people will want to patronize you or work with you. 

Digital marketing is the order of the day so it is essential to learn skills in digital marketing.

This may not sound like a normal skill but it is a useful skill as you pave your way to success. And yes having a fighting spirit is a skill. Not everyone has it and some people can't do it.

You need to learn to fight your way through difficult paths and obstacles. You need to learn to stay focused on your objective and not get distracted. You have to show resilience and determination to succeed no matter what. 

Giving up is not an option. You need this skill during trying moments or disappointing times. You need it when you feel discouraged or when nothing seems to be working in your favour. 

Not giving up is a skill you learn because the disappointments only get bigger as you get closer to your goal. 

So learn it and use it to thrive in this 21st Century.

Sometimes you fail so bad that you have to start all over again. Sometimes you lose it all my dear African women. But you have to learn to start all over again. You have to be ready to start all over. 

It's often so painful that you may not want to do it again but you have to learn to put yourself together and begin all over.

The society we live in will always make your business their own and will criticize you or mock you because of your decision to succeed. But you have to learn to ignore it.

No one understands your vision better than you do. No one knows where you are coming from and where you are going to. So learn to ignore the noise and mockery and negative talk around you and do your thing. 

They'll come around when you succeed.

Those are the skills I'll recommend for you my dear African sister to acquire and use to be a success this century.
