Stewed white beans | Cameroonian recipe

White beans can be a bit delicate to prepare because it needs to look as good as it tastes. It is seen as a prestigious specie of the beans family so there is usually some extra garnishing. 

Here is the typical recipe for white beans in Cameroon

Ingredients


For this recipe you'll need:


- Tomatoes and or tomato paste

- Carrots and green beans

- leeks and onions

- Green spices ( celery, parsley, cutmanjo, etc)

- Black pepper and white pepper

- Ginger and garlic

- Green pepper

- Pepper (optional)

- Smoked meat or fish (optional)

Cooking


At this point, I assume you have already boiled your beans until it is quite ready.

Put oil in a pot, heat it and add all the ingredients except the ginger, garlic, white and black pepper.

Fry until their flavours are oozing and they seem almost ready.

Then add the beans to it add some water and the remaining ingredients. Remember to grind the ginger, garlic, and black and white pepper before adding them to the beans. 

Season (put Maggi and salt) then cover the pot and let it boil for at least 10 mins.

Your beans are ready.
