I didn’t plan to become a “chia seed person.”

I didn't know where to get it until I saw it at the supermarket. I didn’t overthink it. I picked it up and told myself, let’s just try it and see.

So I did.

How I take my chia seeds 

For the past few days, I’ve been soaking my chia seeds in hot water for about 20 minutes before drinking them. Didn't want to start with a complicated way to use it, and honestly?

I didn’t expect to feel anything.

But I did.

Here’s What Actually Happened To My Body

The first thing I noticed: I was peeing more

In the first couple of days, I peed more than usual. It actually made me feel like my body was flushing things out. 

Then came the gas… a lot of it 😄

Let me be honest—this part surprised me the most.

For the first two days, I was farting more than usual. It wasn’t uncomfortable, just… a lot. But at the same time, I felt like my stomach was releasing trapped gas.

It felt like a clean-out.

After those first couple of days, everything settled.

My stomach felt… calmer

Fewer stomach noises. My belly felt lighter. Less bloated. Just calmer overall.

So what are chia seeds actually doing?

Chia seeds come from the plant Salvia hispanica, and even though they’re tiny, they’re packed with nutrients.

They’re especially rich in fiber and I think that’s the biggest reason behind everything I experienced.

The fiber helps with digestion, supports gut health, and can make you feel full for longer. That “full” feeling is probably why so many people talk about it for weight loss.

Not because it magically burns fat… but because it helps you eat less without trying too hard.

They also contain antioxidants, which support your body from the inside. You won’t see that immediately, but you can sometimes feel the difference in subtle ways.

How I’ve been taking it

There exist many ways to take it. I found multiple ways to take it, but for a start, I decided to keep it simple.

I started with one teaspoon of chia seeds soaked in about a glass of hot water. Then I put a tablespoon in a glass of hot water. I let it soak in hot water for about 20 minutes, then I drink it. 

NB: Don't soak it with hot water in a glass. Use a teacup. I mentioned a glass of water as a reference to how much water to use. I soak it in the hot water in a teacup because hot water can break glass. 

That’s it.

I didn’t want to complicate things, especially at the beginning.

Other ways I might try 

Some people soak it in cold water overnight before taking it. Your seeds have to be well-soaked before you take them to avoid constipation or bloating. 

So if you are using cold water, let it soak until you can see the transparent coating around the seeds.

I might try soaking it in milk or yogurt too.

Would I continue taking it?

Yes.

Not because it’s a miracle solution, but because it reminded me that sometimes, small, simple habits can quietly improve how you feel day to day.

And I like that.

We are in March, but let's talk about vision boards. 

There’s something I did differently with my vision board this year… and honestly, it completely changed how I see my progress. I didn’t realize how important this shift was until I sat down and looked at it again.

The Problem I Had Before

Last year, I had a long-term vision board. Using my long-term board, I wrote down a few goals for the year. But every time I compared it to my long-term vision board, I felt like I wasn’t doing enough. It felt like a very small piece of action.

The long-term board felt too big. Too far. Too wide. Compared to my efforts for the year.

What I was doing daily felt so small in comparison… like it didn’t even count.

What I Did Differently This Year

This year, I decided to create a vision board for the year. 

Now, I have two vision boards:

• A long-term vision board (for the bigger picture of my life)

• A yearly vision board (focused only on this year)

And the difference?

Everything feels clearer.

Instead of trying to measure my progress against a huge life vision, I now have something specific and realistic to work towards right now.

My yearly vision board is basically a zoomed-in version of my bigger vision.

Smaller. More focused. More actionable.

And most importantly… achievable.

Another thing I changed

The types of images I used. This time, I didn’t just pick “nice” or “aesthetic” pictures.

I chose images that actually feel close to my reality. Something that makes me think:

“Yes, this could be me.”

Because your vision board is not just about what you see; it’s about what you feel when you see it

When I look at mine now, I feel motivated. I feel connected. I feel what I would feel when I get that thing.

The Impact

Having a clear, realistic vision board has made decision-making easier for me.

For example, I was thinking about changing my approach to my eating habits for weight loss.

I asked myself: Should I relax a bit? Should I just reduce portions instead of sticking to structure?

Then I looked at my vision board. There’s an image there that represents how I want to look and feel. And immediately, I checked myself. Not from pressure… but from alignment.

It reminded me to stay on track. This is what you said you want.

That’s the power of having a visual reminder that actually connects with you.

If you take anything from this, let it be this:

• Don’t only rely on a big life vision—break it down into a yearly version

• Choose images that feel real and emotionally connected, not just pretty

• Focus on how the images make you feel, not just how they look

• Let your vision board guide your daily decisions, not just your dreams

Because at the end of the day…

It’s not just about having goals.

It’s about creating something that helps you live them out, every single day.

When money is tight, many people naturally focus on buying whatever is cheapest. But the problem with that approach is that cheap food is not always balanced food. A family can end up eating meals that fill the stomach without truly nourishing the body.

That is why it helps to think about food differently.

Instead of building meals around carbohydrates and then adding protein, which could be expensive, it can be more affordable to make meals that already include protein.

For example, in Cameroon, dishes like

• Koki beans with plantain or potato

• Beans with rice or plantain

• Ndolé with rice, baton, or plantain

• Groundnut paste and baton 

Meals like these already offer nutritional value on their own, which means there is less pressure to buy meat or fish every time you cook. Since meat can quickly drive up the cost of feeding a family, choosing natural, protein-rich meals more often can make a big difference.

Another smart habit is keeping basic cooking ingredients in the house at all times. Things you would use to cook most meals.

Things like:

• Oil

• Seasoning

• Basic spices

• Eggs

These may seem simple, but they make everyday cooking much easier. When the basics are available, it becomes easier to improvise meals without stress. Eggs, especially, can be very helpful because they can replace meat in many dishes and make simple meals feel more complete. And they are affordable.

It also helps to buy staple foods in larger quantities whenever possible.

Items like beans, koki beans, rice, spaghetti, and eggs can serve as the foundation of many meals. Having these basics at home creates stability. It means there is always something to cook, even when money is low. Then, whenever there is extra money, more variety can be added gradually.

Seasonal foods can also help reduce costs.

When certain vegetables are in season, they are usually cheaper and easier to find. That is the best time to cook them more often. Okro, leafy vegetables, and other local produce can stretch a food budget while still adding important nutrients to meals.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is to create a system that works.

A good food budget is not about buying everything at once or serving elaborate meals every day. It is about making sure there is always a base to work with, choosing meals that are both affordable and nourishing, and adding more variety when possible.

That is the heart of budget-friendly feeding:

Do not compromise on nutrition if you can help it, especially when children are involved. Focus instead on finding simpler, cheaper ways to serve balanced meals.

Even with limited money, it is still possible to feed a family well. It takes intention, creativity, and a willingness to plan around what matters most.

Fashion, body, and learning myself again

My fashion is still a work in progress. I’m okay with that.

I’ve mostly been dressing for the body I have now. My postpartum belly is still prominent, but since losing some weight recently, certain clothes are starting to look better on me. I look more feminine. I'm glad with the progress. I stepped up a little by wearing cuter and sexier outfits when I go for things like dates, but I stay conscious of my belly, so I opt mostly for dresses to camouflage it. Short dresses for sexiness and to draw attention to my legs instead of my tummy. 

At home, I feel freer and can wear anything I feel comfortable in. For school runs and normal day errands, I wear a kaba (a free ankara dress), and that's when the real mother side shows now lol. I want to look better, but I no longer feel completely shapeless. 

I’m somewhere in between right now—not fully slim, but no longer where I was. And honestly, that middle space feels hopeful.

Confidence, returning

I don’t feel as exposed and judged anymore. Before, I felt like I had disappeared into survival mode.

Now, I feel like I’m re-entering the world. Gently. Carefully. One lotion, one hairstyle, and one outfit at a time.

I still want more. I still imagine certain things that would make me feel even more polished, more embellished. But I’m a mother. I have responsibilities. So I'm doing it at my pace and means.

And that’s okay.

Still in progress—and proud of that

I’m still working on my style. Still learning my body. Still restoring myself layer by layer.

But I wanted to mark this moment—this phase where I can finally say: I’m improving. I’m softening. I’m coming back to myself.

Working, Earning, and Holding It Together

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about work, energy, and how I’m actually holding everything together behind the scenes.

I didn’t stop doing things completely, but I did take a step back—especially from heavy work. I could feel myself getting overwhelmed, and I didn’t want to push until I burned out. I’ve been there before, and I know how it starts. For me, it’s when I’m doing many things at once without a clear plan, and everything starts feeling heavy instead of productive.

At that point, even simple tasks feel like too much.

So I slowed down.

I stepped back from most client work, especially the ones that needed a lot of mental energy. I still showed up where I could, but I reduced my load on purpose. I needed space to think properly and reset my brain.

That time was important for me. Not because I was being lazy, but because I needed clarity.

I rested, yes, but I also spent time thinking about my blog and my content. I realized that I didn’t want to just keep posting or creating for the sake of it. I wanted my content to make more sense — to reflect my real life, my current season, and the things I’m actually navigating.

So I used that period to refine things. I thought about what Life in Motion really means to me. I thought about how I want to write, what kind of stories I want to tell, and how I want people to experience my blog when they come here.

This blog isn’t just about work or business. It’s about how I work, earn, and still manage life at the same time. Working from home. Managing money decisions. Trying to grow creatively. Feeling tired some days. Feeling hopeful on others. Wanting success, but also wanting peace.

That’s the reality I’m living, and that’s what I want this space to reflect.

Now that January is here, I’m slowly stepping back into my work again, including client work — but with more intention. I’m not trying to rush or overload myself. I’m choosing to move with more structure and better boundaries.

I’m also focusing on doing better with my content — on the blog and on YouTube. Not louder, not more dramatic, just better. Better quality. Better direction. Content that feels true to where I am right now.

I’ve also been quieter on social media than usual, but that was part of the same decision. I wanted less noise while I figured things out. As I start sharing more again, it will be more about supporting what I’m building here and showing real life as it’s happening.

So this is where I am at the moment — working, earning, adjusting, resting when needed, and trying to hold everything together without losing myself in the process.

That’s what Life in Motion looks like for me right now.

The Couch I’m Not Buying (Yet)

I wanted to buy a couch.

But as 2026 got closer and I looked at my finances again and again, I realized it’s not realistic to get it at the moment. Maybe not this year. Not without forcing it. And I don’t want to force anything.

Still, I don’t want to leave my living room empty again. I'm beginning to feel the desire to equip and decorate.

There’s something about an empty living room that makes a house feel unfinished, like you’re still passing through your own life. And lately, I’ve been feeling this quiet desire to decorate, to make my space feel cozy, to make my home feel intentional. That’s new for me. I’ve never really decorated before. 

Now I want comfort. Even if it’s modest.

So I started thinking: what if I make something?

I have scrap fabric — old clothes I’m cutting into pieces. My first idea was to use what I already have and spend nothing. That felt responsible. Creative. Very “make do with what you have.” I started looking for DIY couch ideas that don’t require wood or money.

But honestly?
Most of the ideas I found didn’t feel like what I wanted. I want my DIY to look like the couch I want to buy.

But the DIY projects I've seen look temporary. Or too rough. Or not something I could love in the long run. And while I’m okay with humble beginnings, I still want something that feels considered. Something I can be proud of. Something that doesn’t make me feel like I’m settling.

Then came the second idea: what if I spend a small amount? Maybe get pallets, or a simple wooden base, and then use my scrap fabric to make cushions or throws. That version looks more refined. More “real couch adjacent.” More aligned with the kind of home I’m trying to build.

But every time I think about spending that money, something in me pauses.

Because the truth is, I have other priorities right now. Things that matter more in the long run. And part of my growth has been learning not to rush aesthetics at the expense of stability. I keep reminding myself: I can save this money now and buy the couch I really want later.

So I am in between.

I don’t want to forcefully buy a couch.
I don’t want to leave my living room empty either.
I don’t want to spend money I’ll need elsewhere.
But I still want beauty. Comfort. Intention.

Lately, I’ve been looking at pouffes too. Maybe that’s the compromise. Something small. Flexible. Soft. Something that says, this space is lived in, without pretending it’s finished. I don't know.

But I’ve found one DIY idea I’m willing to try. It's not perfect, not exactly what I imagined, but good enough to start. I don’t know yet how it will turn out. I’m hoping it looks like something. I’m hoping it feels right. And if it doesn’t, I’ll adjust.

While fingers are crossed for that, I'll share how I navigate this with you. Stay tuned.

I Realized My Attachment Style Was Hurting Me—Here’s What I Learned

Lately, I’ve been navigating dating when I realized something important about myself: how I attach to people. Even small connections, like during the talking stage, have been creating unnecessary disappointment and emotional exhaustion for me. I want to share this part of my journey because I know other women might see themselves in it.

I've noticed that I invested emotionally too quickly. I did this by imagining scenarios, building expectations, and attaching before there was any real foundation. To me, this was my way of validating the person for myself in my head. But those scenarios created connections unknown to me, and when things don’t happen the way I imagined, I felt disappointed, even if logically I know there was no commitment. And it became hard to detach. It literally felt like a heartbreak every time. 

This is a pattern I’ve seen in myself with most dating periods I've had. It was exhausting and, honestly, unfair to myself. I had to work on it.

Here’s what I’ve learned and am actively practising:

1. Attachment comes from imagination—notice it early

• When I catch myself imagining things with someone, I stop it.

• I remind myself that imagining does not equal reality.

• This helps me reduce the intensity of early emotional attachment.

5. Self-awareness is the real lesson

• The biggest gift in this process is noticing my attachment patterns and being honest with myself.

• Understanding this helps me see where I’ve been giving my heart too quickly and where I need to slow down.
